MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2008
5:00 P.M.
The Board of County Commissioners of Madison County, Florida met this day in Special Session with the following members present: Ricky Henderson (District 1), Wayne Vickers (District 2), Alfred Martin (District 4), and Roy Ellis (District 5). Commissioner Ronnie Moore (District 3) was unable to attend due to a previous commitment. Also present were County Coordinator Allen Cherry and County Clerk Tim Sanders.
The Chairman, Honorable Wayne Vickers, called the meeting to order and turned the meeting over to Mr. Cherry and Road Department Coordinator Robert Henderson.
Mr. Cherry explained the meeting was called to consider bids for the County Road 255 Resurfacing Project. He reported the following Total Lump Sum Project Costs were received:
The Scruggs Co. …………………………..$448,189.68
Anderson Columbia Co. Inc. ………………$465,360.77
Peavy and Son Construction Co., Inc. …….$537,081.43
APAC-Southeast, Inc. …………………………no bid
Mr. Cherry stated Mr. Henderson and County Engineer Bill Steves reviewed the project bids and recommended the low bid of $448,189.68 from The Scruggs Co. Mr. Cherry also reported the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) grant to resurface County Road 255 from U.S. Highway 90 to Interstate 10 was in the amount of $528,905.00. Upon a motion by Commissioner Martin, seconded by Commissioner Henderson, the Board voted unanimously (4-0) to approve said recommendation and award the bid to The Scruggs Co. in the amount of $448,189.68.
There being no further business, the Chairman adjourned the meeting at 5:10 P.M.
