Statement of Madison County Regarding Caboodle Ranch
Date of Statement: March 28, 2011.
Madison County, Florida (the “County”) wishes to make the following official statement regarding the enterprise known as Caboodle Ranch, 711 Benchmark Drive, Lee Florida (“Caboodle Ranch”):
In the past certain persons may have represented that Caboodle Ranch is affiliated with or been endorsed or licensed by the County. These representations were made without the permission of the County and are not correct. The County does not officially endorse or license any local sanctuary and expresses no opinion on Caboodle Ranch or any other animal sanctuary.
Further the County is not affiliated with Caboodle Ranch or any animal sanctuary. The County does operate its County Animal Control Department within the County. The County Animal Control Department enforces all County ordinances and state laws regarding animals but does not have an official adoption program. Animals impounded by the County Animal Control Department which are not retrieved by their owner are humanely disposed of in accordance with Florida law.
The County is not presently aware of any violation of ordinance or law by the Caboodle Ranch. The County’s files in this regard are open to the public pursuant to Florida’s public records laws.
If anyone feels that any animal sanctuary is operating in violation of the law they should contact the County Animal Control Department as follows:
